Products That Actually Work For Your Hair

Episode two of CURLVERSATION. Tatianna on the shelf of products that promised everything, what she kept, and the point where she stopped guessing.

✦ ✦ ✦

Almost everyone with curls has the same cupboard.

The jar that worked beautifully once and never again. The cream three different people swore by. The gel that looked incredible on someone else's hair and did nothing on yours. The bottle you keep because throwing it out would mean admitting you wasted the money.

It is easy to read that cupboard as a personal failure. It usually isn't. It is what happens when the only information available to you is what worked for somebody else.

Tatianna on Products That Actually Work For Your Hair

CURLVERSATION Episode 02

In this episode, Tatianna walks us through how she moved from collecting products to understanding what her own hair was actually asking for. What she kept, what she let go of, and the moment it stopped being trial and error.

Why Reviews Keep Letting You Down

A product review tells you what happened on one specific head of hair. It cannot tell you that person has low porosity and you have high. It cannot tell you their strands are finer than yours, or that their curls hold a shape with half the hold yours need.

So the product that changed their life sits in your cupboard doing nothing, and the conclusion feels personal. My hair is difficult. My hair is the exception. Nothing works on my hair.

None of that is true. The information was just never specific enough to be useful.

The right product for someone else's hair is still the wrong product for yours.

What Actually Narrows It Down

Three things decide most of it, and curl type is only one of them.

Porosity

How your hair takes on moisture and how fast it loses it again. This is the one people most often have wrong, including people who have been natural for years. It determines whether a rich formula sinks in or sits on top doing nothing.

Strand diameter

The width of a single strand, which is not the same as how much hair you have. Fine strands get buried under heavy products. Coarse strands often need that weight to behave. Two people with identical curl patterns can need opposite routines because of this alone.

Curl type

The 2s, 3s and 4s everybody already knows. It matters, it shapes how product distributes and how your hair clumps, but it was never meant to carry the whole decision by itself.

The shortcut

Before you buy anything else, work out your porosity and your strand diameter. Those two answers eliminate more of the shelf than any review ever will, and they stop you buying the same wrong thing in a different bottle.

Where the Curl ID Comes In

This is exactly the problem the Curl ID was built to solve. It does not ask you to already know your porosity, because most people don't and plenty have been told wrong. It asks how your hair actually behaves, how it takes on product, how long it stays wet, what happens by the end of the day, and works it out from there.

Porosity, diameter and curl type together is how we match every curl babe to one of twelve routines. Not a bestseller list. The one built for your combination.

Take your Curl ID

A few questions about how your hair actually behaves, and you get the routine built for your porosity, diameter and curl type. Free, and it takes about three minutes.

One Last Thing

If your cupboard is full of products that didn't work, that is not thirteen failed experiments. That is thirteen pieces of information about what your hair doesn't want.

The work is turning that into what it does want, and that part does not have to take years.

This is more than a hair conversation.
It's a CURLVERSATION.
